In the iPod photo cache folder

Every time you sync iDevice with the help of iTunes a specific photo cache folder is created in your computer. Its contents replicate the contents of the iThmb photo image collections on your iPod, iPad or iPhone but the structure of the files is different. Each iThmb file in the photo cache folder contains:

  • The versions of the same image of different sizes (height and width).
  • The index file storing the additional image data and serving for accessing the images.

For each newly created iThmb collection, the index in the end of a filename is increased, i.e. T151.ithmb is generated after T150.ithmb. This helps you locate the specific collection.

What is more important about this folder is that all your valuable images are stored here safely so that you could easily recover them in case of any damage to your iDevice.
