What is an ITHMB file extension?
ITHMB is the file extension specific for the iOS, Apple's mobile operating system for iPad, iPhone and iPod. ITHMB files are created when you sync your iOS device with iTunes. The files are then saved to your iOS device, as well as to your PC or Mac.
ITHMB files contain images optimized for the specific iOS device screen size and display mode. This makes navigation faster and increases energy efficiency, saving your battery juice. Besides ITHMB files, iTunes generates an index file containing image metadata including file name, size and date. Together the index file and ITHMB files form a full-fledged image database.
